EMS or NMES

Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) or neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES).

Electrical stimulation is the controlled use of electromagnetic current using fairly sophisticated devices that can create a variety of waveforms which are used selectively or in combined formats to stimulate nerves and therefore muscles, or to decrease pain. Some of the benefits of EMS include relaxation of muscle spasms, prevention and reduction of disuse atrophy, increasing local blood circulation, muscle re-education, maintaining or increasing range of motion.
